Book Title: Pestilence (The Four Horsemen Book 1) Author: Laura Thalassa
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Target Audience: New Adult
Publication date: March 20, 2018
What it’s about

They came to earth–Pestilence, War, Famine, Death–four horsemen riding their screaming steeds, racing to the corners of the world. Four horsemen with the power to destroy all of humanity. They came to earth, and they came to end us all.
When Pestilence comes for Sara Burn’s town, one thing is certain: everyone she knows and loves is marked for death. Unless, of course, the angelic-looking horseman is stopped, which is exactly what Sara has in mind when she shoots the unholy beast off his steed.
Too bad no one told her Pestilence can’t be killed.
Now the horseman, very much alive and very pissed off, has taken her prisoner, and he’s eager to make her suffer. Only, the longer she’s with him, the more uncertain she is about his true feelings towards her … and hers towards him.
And now, well, Sara might still be able to save the world, but in order to do so, she’ll have to sacrifice her heart in the process.
About the Author

Found in the forest when she was young, Laura Thalassa was raised by fairies, kidnapped by werewolves, and given over to vampires as repayment for a hundred year debt. She’s been brought back to life twice, and, with a single kiss, she woke her true love from eternal sleep. She now lives happily ever after with her undead prince in a castle in the woods.
… or something like that anyway.
When not writing, Laura can be found scarfing down guacamole, hoarding chocolate for the apocalypse, or curled up on the couch with a good book.
What I Thought
I’ll start this by admitting that this did not go in the direction I thought this would.
Sara, I don’t think was leading lady material. Don’t get me wrong she was caring, compassionate, funny, and somewhat feisty but there was something just not quite there. Also, ex-firefighter with the surname Burns.

It’s like going back to the Selection with America’s surname being Singer but I digress.
Also, I have read plenty of stories with Instalove but Instalust is not usually what I have come across. Going by the cover I’m not surprised but he was a prick as they normally are. He was very hot a cold, I get why he wanted to punish Sara but why would he inflict a massive amount of pain on her to be gentle when cleaning and dressing her wounds? He also makes sure that she has a place to eat and sleep for her comfort. When he finally gives in to his feelings he then slut shames her because she’s had sex before. For a celestial being that has been around for centuries, you’d think he’d get with the times.
Although I get that this is the beginning of the Apocalypse I’m still not 100% certain who the true victims are. The humans being infected or the fact that Pestilence is infecting them.
It was very up and down but I think I’m going to continue the series because I have heard many great things.
