What it’s about

Erika
I was told that dreams were our heart’s desires. My nightmares, however, became my obsession.
His name is Michael Crist.
My boyfriend’s older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He’s handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college’s basketball team and now gone pro, he’s more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.
But I noticed him.
I saw him. I heard him. The things that he did, and the deeds that he hid…For years, I bit my nails, unable to look away.
Now, I’ve graduated high school and moved on to college, but I haven’t stopped watching Michael. He’s bad, and the dirt I’ve seen isn’t content to stay in my head anymore.
Because he’s finally noticed me.
Michael
Her name is Erika Fane, but everyone calls her Rika.
My brother’s girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close. I can always feel the fear rolling off of her, and while I haven’t had her body, I know that I have her mind. That’s all I really want anyway.
Until my brother leaves for the military, and I find Rika alone at college.
In my city.
Unprotected.
The opportunity is too good to be true, as well as the timing. Because you see, three years ago she put a few of my high school friends in prison, and now they’re out.
We’ve waited. We’ve been patient. And now every last one of her nightmares will come true.
What I Thought
OK so it’s been a while since I posted on here but honestly this year there’s not been many books that I have read that have been worth posting about until I went on BookTok and discovered people recreating a thing from this series. So that’s how I decided to get stuck into this series.
I finished this last night so I have had a little more time to be able to formulate words on just how I felt about this book. It was every bit exhilarating as people had said and I struggled to put it down and if it wasn’t for work, children, sleep and the dog I think I would have had no problem binging it.
Not going to lie to start I was getting a little confused with the backwards and forwards with the present day, but there is no surprise there as I do this with TV shows and films, and now that I have read it I completely understand why the author did this and it certainly kept me reading as I was eager to find out what exactly happened to 3 of the 4 men in this.
Rika to start with wasn’t what I was expecting but in a good way. I thought based on her description in the beginning, oh look another damsel in distress with a picture-perfect boyfriend but oh no, she’s so much more than that. She’s brave, headstrong, family orientated and takes no shit.
Michael on the other hand is… (I am actually struggling to think of how to put him into words) a shithead.

Honestly from the start of the book, I think I actually said this out loud which made my husband give me that look. Michael to me was the poor little (or not so little in his case) rich boy who was overshadowed by Trevor, his brother and Rika’s boyfriend much to her dismay. That being said I was in love with him by the end of the book no matter the circumstances.
Their story starts so much earlier than the plot of the book, Rika was born to a privileged family in the prestigious Thunder Bay and was almost immediately betrothed to Trevor. Michael was the angry boy who grew up to be full of hate for his father and brother and was almost left to his own devices. The chemistry was there from the start with the longing glances across the room from her to him with little to no reciprocation. Or so we thought.
As much as I loved the story revolving around Rika and Michael which seemed to be the driving force of the plot, the other two out of the three men intrigued me too. Kai and Will are people who I would definitely love to read more about these two and not so much about Damon and after reading this you will understand why.
Now this book is not for the faint of heart, I for one will certainly never look at a steam room in the same way again nevertheless it is well worth the read and I will be corrupting my friends with my recommendation of this book.
